"Departed life while in their beds, with identical bumps on their heads"- Wellington and his sister's epitaph.
Wellington Dread is one of the twins of the Dread Family, being buried in the Haunted Mansion in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World.
Description[]
Biography[]
Wellington and his twin sister Forsythia were both members of the wealthy Dread family. The two became murderers when they suffocated, "Aunt" Florence Dread in canary-seed following her murder of one Bertie Dread. The two presumably did as-such likely for the inheritance of the family-fortune.
The two were murdered however by one Cousin Maude, both in their sleeps when she hit both of them in the head with a mallet. Following their young and untimely demise, they were laid to rest alongside the rest of their family on the grounds of Gracey Manor.
History[]
In development stages, it was planned for each of the twins to have murdered a different member of the family. Wellington was originally the killer of unused family-member Whitfield Tarkington Dread. He was still killed by Cousin Maude, but here via strangling with the epitaph, "He was reigned in".
Appearances[]
They are presented as busts in front of the Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion as part of the 2010 interactive queue installation and work as a mystery game where guests use clues hidden on the busts and epitaphs to solve the mystery of who killed who.
Each member of the family's plaque is decorated with symbols that represent their murder weapon with the twins having a canary as an allusion to them suffocating Florence in canary-seed. A sack of said canary seed can be seen in statue-form behind the busts on the same pedestal.
Trivia[]
- The twins' exact placement in the Dread family remains unknown.
