An animated Haunted Mansion series to have been produced by Shannon Tindle (Kubo and the Two Strings) was pitched at Disney Television Animation in 2017, as both a limited series and an ongoing one, and got as far as a pitch reel before being rejected.
The series would have weaved elements from many of the various narratives surrounding the house into one larger interconnected history and be primarily explored from the viewpoint of Annie, a mortal girl struggling with grief from having recently lost a loved one.[1] In the exploration of other haunted locations, Tindle had hoped to include a cameo from Herbie the Love Bug and suggest that his living nature was the result of him being haunted.[2]
