Topper McGurk is a character in the comics story "Night of the Caretaker's Dog".
Background[]
Topper McGurk is disturbed from his grave when the Caretaker's Dog digs up one of his leg bones. He goes to complain to the Caretaker, only to find that he's been sleeping with corks in his ears because of the racket the ghosts in the graveyard make. He and his neighbor Ethyl White follow the dog's trail to find their bones, to discover that he's been giving them to his puppies, with their mother Mrs. Dog having passed away. Recognizing that it's at least for a good cause, they let them keep the bones.
