Wasteland

The Wasteland is the setting of the 2010 video-game Epic Mickey.

Description[]

History[]

The Wasteland is a world which was created by the wizard Yen Sid to be a home for cartoon characters who lost their hearts due to being unused or forgotten. However, disaster struck when Mickey Mouse accidentally used Yen Sid's paint and thinner to create the monstrous Shadow Blot and flood the Wasteland with paint-thinner. Following this, the Wasteland became a sort of twisted Disneyland which was ruled by Mickey Mouse's forgotten predecessor, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

Locations[]

Dark Beauty Castle[]

Dark Beauty Castle is the Wasteland's counterpart to Cinderella Castle and Sleeping Beauty's Castle. It served as the royal estate for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and his family.

Mean Street[]

Mean Street is the Wasteland's Main Street, U.S.A. which is a hub-world for the rest of the Wasteland.

The Gremlin Village[]

The Gremlin Village is a counterpart to Fantasyland with many elements taken specifically from the It's a Small World attraction. It was a mechanical building controlled by a sentient clock which housed the village of the gremlin peoples, forgotten cartoon/storybook characters from World War 2.

OsTown[]

OsTown is the counterpart to Mickey's ToonTown in Disneyland, being named for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is a town themed to be in-line with classic cartoons and is found at the base of Mickeyjunk Mountain.

Tomorrow City[]

Tomorrow City is the Wasteland's version of Tomorrowland with incorporated elements of Walt Disney's original plans for EPCOT, the film Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and live-action Disney sci-fi films such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Tron. Tomorrow City also holds Autotopia, an analogue for the Tomorrowland Speedway/Autopia of the Disney Parks which in the Wasteland was a speedway based colony.

Mickeyjunk Mountain[]

Mickeyjunk Mountain is the Wasteland's counterpart to the Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction of Disneyland. Mickeyjunk Mountain served as the landfill for the discarded Mickey Mouse paraphernalia which found its way to the Wasteland, being dumped in the mountain by the envious Oswald. Oswald made his own dwellings in the peak of the mountain.

Ventureland[]

Ventureland is a dense jungle colony which serves as the Wasteland's answer to Adventureland. Ventureland is found nearby a sea of thinner which holds Tortooga, a pirate-haven based on Pirates of the Caribbean which housed the forgotten and discarded members of the crew of the Jolly Roger from Peter Pan. Off the coast of Tortooga was Skull Island and the Jolly Roger, both of which were ruled over by an animatronic Captain Hook made by the Mad Doctor to lead the wasteland pirates.

Bog Easy[]

Bog Easy is the counterpart to New Orleans Square with incorporated elements from Critter Country and the unused Edison Square extension of Main Street, U.S.A.. Bog Easy also is home to Lonesome Manor, the Wasteland's counterpart to the Haunted Mansion which holds a great number of ghostly residents.

Wonderland[]

Wonderland is a Fantasyland inspired area revolving around the Disney adaptation of Alice In Wonderland. It is never explored in the games but is frequently seen as a part of the Wasteland.

Disney Gulch[]

Disney Gulch is a relatively new area formed from the Thinner sea after the Phantom Blot was defeated. It serves as the Wasteland's Frontierland with elements of Tom Sawyer Island, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Western River Expedition and Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland. The Gulch was found adjacent to the Rainbow Caverns, a subterranean region analogous for the rainbow caverns of Nature's Wonderland and Big Thunder Mountain.

The Floatyard[]

The Floatyard is a graveyard of discarded parade floats.
