The Nightmare Before Christmas or Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is an illustrated poem made by then Disney animator Tim Burton as a sort of pitch which would come to inspire the 1993 film of the same name.

Summary[]

The power centres around Jack Skellington, a resident of Halloween Town who becomes tired of Halloween and decides to take on Christmas for the year with himself as, "Sandy Claws". However, things go macabre and chaotic when the two holidays meet.

Connections to the Haunted Mansion[]

Haunted Mansion Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare[]

Within the Stretching Room, the Ghost Host begins directly quoting the original poem as part of his narration. Additionally the Host speaks in rhymes throughout the entirety of the attraction, possibly in part as an allusion to the original narration.

In the portrait corridor, there is a changing portrait depicting a snowman which changes into a snowman-like figure made of pumpkins with a jack-o'-lantern head. The portrait of the snowman made of pumpkins comes from illustrations made for the poem, not the film.

Merchandise[]

In 2001, to coincide with the opening of Haunted Mansion Holiday, an extended scroll rendition of Haunted Mansion Holiday's narration quoting the poem was released as a collectible. This extended poem version of the overlay's script was written for the original pitch.
