"The Groundskeeper's Secret" is the first story in Haunted Mansion #2. It was written and illustrated by Christopher.
Synopsis[]
Out in the graveyard behind the mansion, the Singing Busts reach the final lines of Grim Grinning Ghosts. After they pause a moment, they begin to sing a new song (in the same tune) about the cowardly groundskeeper, who with his faithful dog, Boney, enters the cemetery. As he braves many ghasty ghosts and other terrors on his watch, the busts croon about why such a meek man would willingly visit the graveyard nightly. However, it is revealed that there's one spot where he takes his nightly dinner breaks - the grave of his deceased wife, whose ghost pours him tea. They sit together happily in the moonlight as the song ends.
