The Doctor is In is a story from the unpublished eighth issue of the Haunted Mansion comic book written by Jon "Bean" Hastings and drawn by Jon Morris. It tells the story of Phineas from the Hitchhiking Ghosts in a largely pantomime fashion, completing the trilogy started with The Big Nap and Laugh? I Thought I'd Die!. When the comic was cancelled, it was posted on Jon "Bean" Hastings's Deviantart account.
Summary[]
Dr. Phineas Q. Hackenbush is a traveling snake oil salesman with a medicine wagon show touting the wonders of "Dr. Phineas Q. Hackenbush's Patented and Healthful Reptile Lubricant", bringing his wagon to the small village of Tinker's Cuss. On the way out of town having made a bundle off of another group of suckers, an angry mob of townspeople confront him after his snake oil has given them forked tongues. Making a run for it with his suitcase in tow, he ends up falling off a cliff and is invited to Gracey Manor. Continuing his quack medicine business in the afterlife, he ends up instilling a sense of hypochondria into the ghostly residents of the Mansion, though when Madame Leota points out that everybody in the Mansion is already dead and can't actually get sick, Phineas is chased out of the Mansion and joins the other hitchhikers outside, with the final panel captioned "Physician, heal thyself!"
