13 Days

The 13 Days of Christmas or The Nightmare Before Christmas: The 13 Days of Christmas is a picture-book with a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed parody of The 12 Days of Christmas. It was published by Disney Press on the July 20 of 2009. A newer version of the book with its own illustrations was released in 2021.

Summary[]

The poem served as a parody of the 12 Days of Christmas, providing illustrations of the residents of Halloween Town indulging in macabre Christmas traditions in the 13 days leading up to the holiday. The poem was originally created for Haunted Mansion Holiday's Séance Circle scene with artwork from the attraction.

Haunted Mansion Connections[]

The 13 Days of Christmas[]

The back-cover art of this book has Oogie Boogie, gleefully, "Reading" Madame Leota's crystal ball with her inside, much to her annoyance. The back-art of the cards have an illustration of the Antebellum mansion on it, fitting in with the design found in the portrait corridor of Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Haunted Mansion Holiday & Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare[]

In the Séance sequence of Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland and Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare in Tokyo Disneyland, the poem is recited by Madame Leota herself. In addition to this, the illustrations for each of the 13, "Days" in the book float overhead in the form of tarot-cards belonging to Madame Leota.

Transcript[]

"On the Thirteenth day of Christmas, my Ghoul Love gave to me:

Thirteen Rings of Power, embracing strength that never ends,

Twelve signs of the zodiac that rule the future and transcend,

Eleven candles floating, their scent of mystery in the air,

Ten telling tea leaves, that swirl with secrets yet to share.

On the Ninth day of Christmas, my Ghoul Love gave to me:

Nine magic crystals, that sparkle with a force that is pure,

Eight balls of knowledge, that answer with a truth that is sure,

Seven pearls of wisdom, to keep my love bewitched to me,

Six mystic mirrors, reflecting futures yet to be.

On the Fifth day of Christmas, my Ghoul Love gave to me:

Five lucky charms, to understand the right from wrong,

Four wheels of fortune, to spin their rich and golden song,

Three lifelines, extending help to those in need,

Two passion potions, [so] that love and romance may succeed.

On the First day of Christmas, my Ghoul Love gave to me:

A Star! A brilliant star for my fortune card tree!"
