The Spirit World, according to spiritualism, is the world or realm inhabited by spirits, both good or evil of various spiritual manifestations. Whereas religion regards an inner life, the Spirit World is regarded as an external environment for spirits.[1] Although independent from the Living World, both the Spirit World and the Living World are in constant interaction. Through mediumship, these worlds can consciously communicate with each other. The Spirit World is sometimes described by mediums from the Living World in trance.

The Ghost Host refers to the Haunted Mansion as "the moldering sanctum of the Spirit World."

The Stretching Room transports guests from the Living World to the Spirit World. Once they leave the gallery they find themselves in a very different mansion than the one they entered.[1]

In the Spirit World version of the Mansion, it is always 13 o'clock at night and the minutes on clocks turn backwards.

The Mansion itself, within the Spirit World, is a run-down Victorian house, seemingly only two stories tall, rather than the three-story antebellum mansion guests enter at Disneyland or the three-story Gothic Revival manor at Walt Disney World.

Guests exit the Spirit World and return to the Living World at the end of the tour, via a mausoleum.
