The Sheriff of Phantom Canyon is a character who briefly appears in Phantom Manor.
History[]
The Sheriff was once the sheriff of the mining town of Thunder Mesa during the late 1850s. In the year 1860 the town was hit by a massive earthquake which sent a large portion of the town pummelling into a canyon resulting in all of it's inhabitants, including the Sheriff being killed. It is possible that around the point of his death he was in a shootout with an Outlaw.
Description[]
In the attraction the Sheriff appears in the Phantom Canyon sequence, taking cover in a shootout with an outlaw robbing a bank, with neither the sheriff nor the outlaw realizing that they cannot kill the other or be killed.
Trivia[]
- The Sheriff shared the same face model with the Organist in the mainstream Haunted Mansion attractions.
- By the 1880s when the ride takes place, the sheriff of Thunder Mesa is named Sheriff Will Ketchum.
