Route 13 is a location from the Tales from the Haunted Mansion books, primarily being seen in Volumes III and IV.
Description[]
Route 13, nicknamed for the 13 deaths that took place during its construction, is a mysterious highway full of twists and curves that leads to the Eternal Grace Cemetery and the Haunted Mansion up on the hill nearby. While relatively safe during the day, the road's sinister nature comes into full swing at night with heavy fog and mist regularly descending onto the path and the large population of ravens, bats and vultures emerging to take flight. Route 13 is the regular haunting grounds for the three Hitchhiking Ghosts, who are often sighted looking for a ride from whatever travelers have become lost on the path. Its dangerous reputation and connection to the Mansion have made it regularly sought out by paranormal investigators, psychics, and horror writers looking to research its many legends and tales, with Rand Brisbane and Prudence Pock being among its visitors. Route 13 also plays into the Mansion's ability to seek out its invited mortal guests, as it seems to connect both New Orleans Square and Liberty Square.
