The Rivers of the Far West is the name given to a series of river passages in the Big Thunder region of Arizona, adjacent to Thunder Mesa, Boot Hill, and Ravenswood Manor.
Description[]
Background[]
The Rivers of the Far West are a series of rivers passing through the Big Thunder Mountain Range, including completely surrounding one of its peaks on Big Thunder Mountain. Circa 1840 Henry Ravenswood of the Big Thunder Mining Company would establish the mining-town of Thunder Mesa which frequently used rafts to travel to Big Thunder Island for their mining operations. The steamboat known as the Mark Twain Riverboat also made passage through the rivers and by the 1880s would connect Thunder Mesa citizens with other Big Thunder mining colonies such as Tumbleweed and Rainbow Ridge.

History[]
The Rivers of the Far West are Disneyland Paris' counterpart to the Rivers of America found in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. While the latter mentioned parks have their rivers pass through other lands such as Liberty Square, Critter Country and New Orleans Square, Disneyland Paris' river is limited to Frontierland. The rafts to Big Thunder Island are recycled from the rafts to Tom Sawyer Island in most parks but also takes inspiration for the unbuilt Western River Expedition attraction.
