"Preaching to the Choir" is the first story featured in the unreleased Haunted Mansion #8, eventually printed in the Volume 2 trade paperback of the Haunted Mansion SLG comics. It was written by Cory Doctorow, and drawn by Christopher. A PDF document of the story can be found on Craphound.com.

Synopsis

The story follows the Organist, as he tells the tale of how the Organ Banshees came to be. The story begins with the Organist playing his organ in the Grand Hall, as he recalls how he used to be "forced to play unaccompanied."

The Organist's tale begins with him hearing a bus filled with rather rowdy members of a children's choir, who were tying each other up, breaking windows, throwing stuff at each other, and yelling. The bus driver is apparently stoned, apparently laughing at his own jokes, and unable to interrupt the children's poor behavior.

The Organist saw this as an opportunity to use them as his own choir, and recites how he's unhappy with the Birthday Ghost taking residence, citing that "She gets sulky if we don't stop for cake and candles at least once a year." The Organist reveals that he's not bound to the mansion, therefore he can "come and go as he pleases".

The Organist then finds his way onto the bus, and sticks his head in through the roof, and screams at the children in an attempt to "see if they could sing." The children are unphased by the scare, and one of them instructs the rest to "Gettim!" The children proceed to then throw items at the Organist. The Organist then proceeds to "Audition them the hard way," by jumping onto the driver's window of the bus, obstructing the driver's view. The driver proceeds to laugh and point at the Organist, who starts singing and dancing to Grim Grinning Ghosts, which the driver finds hysterical. This causes the driver to disengage from driving, and drive the bus straight off of a cliff. The Organist then managed to cast the children as a choir for him, and he "even found a gig for that slap-happy choir master." Who is still laughing at his own jokes.
