Napoléon Bonaparte is a historic figure connected to the Haunted Mansion.
History[]
Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military officer during the 18th century. Following the French Revolution in-which the people of France executed their aristocratic overlords, Napoleon rose to great status due to his strategic prowess aiding in keeping out the Austrian armies which wished to restore the monarchy. This lead to Bonaparte becoming the consul of the French Republic before eventually being elected in as emperor of France.
Bonaparte undid many of the progressive laws which the revolution worked to establish and became fixated on leading France to conquer the western world. For funds, Napoleon made allies with the American government and sold to them the French province of Louisiana. While Napoleon won the majority of the war, he lost when he attempted to invade Russia and lost much of his forces to the massive warfront.
Napoleon was arrested and sent to an island where he would be imprisoned until eventually inspiring a revolt within the French officers tasked with imprisoning him. Napoleon reassembled his army and lead them to the battle of Waterloo where they ultimately lost and Napoleon was arrested yet again. He died in imprisonment in 1821 at the age of 51 from what is believed to have been a form of cancer.
