Monsieur Bogyman is an unused character conceived for the Haunted Mansion by Ken Anderson.
History[]
Monsieur Bogyman would have been the groom in a ghostly wedding which guests of the manor would attend, witnessing his union with one Mlle. Vampire. The wedding would have been attended by their close friends such as Count Dracula, the Headless Horseman, Great Caesar's Ghost, Frankenstein's Monster and the Lonesome Ghosts.
However as the big day approached, Mlle. Vampire began (literally) losing her head and would eventually run away from the wedding. When her cold feet were discovered, the wedding was thrown into chaos with the guests threatening the guests.
Trivia[]
- Due to the campy nature of her respective story-pitch, Mlle. Vampire's name is an obvious reference to vampires and her groom's was to the "Bogeyman". The Bogeyman being a folklore character known for inflicting fear (and sometimes even kidnapping) small children for misbehaving at night, often hiding in their closets or under their beds.
- In a way, the Groom partly made it into the finished attraction as in Haunted Mansion Holiday, Disney's variation of the folkloric Bogeyman figure Oogie Boogie from the Nightmare Before Christmas makes an appearance. However this connection is very likely a coincidence.
