Minecraft is a sandbox video game developed by Mojang Studios and currently published by Microsoft, originally releasing in 2011. It is the best-selling video game of all time, with over 238 million copies sold.
Haunted Mansion Recreation[]
In November of 2021, Minecraft partnered with Walt Disney World to make a world entirely themed around the Magic Kingdom, in honor of the resort's 50th anniversary. Available as DLC, it is a recreation of the Magic Kingdom featuring many of the park's most popular attraction[1]. One of them is a faithful recreation of the Haunted Mansion.
In addition, Haunted Mansion cast members are stationed at Memento Mori and the Diamond Horseshoe, selling merchandise and popular snacks for the player to choose from, dressed in the standard butler uniform. The Hitchhiking Ghosts are also available as skins for the player.
Trivia[]
- The portraits are pixelated recreations of Kiersten Hale's artwork from The Haunted Mansion Call of the Spirits board game[2].
- While mostly faithful, there are some minor deviations from the attraction.
- There's no hanging skeleton in the stretching room.
- Only five of the Sinister Eleven are present - Jack the Ripper, Culpepper Clyne, the Ghost Host, the Witch of Walpurgis, and the Couple.
- The 'hands, arm, feet, and legs' spiel is given in the changing portrait gallery, instead of the loading zone.
- Cut pieces of the Ghost Host's narration are added back in - in the music room and the endless staircase.
- The living knight no longer moves and there is no chair next to the endless hallway.
- The coffin occupant is silent.
- There is no pet cemetery at the ride's exit.
- Many fan recreations of the mansion exist, but the one from the Walt Disney World DLC is the only official one.
