Mediterranean Hall is a chamber of Mystic Manor which also serves as a scene in the attraction of the same name.

Description[]

Background[]

Mediterranean Hall is a chamber used by Lord Henry Mystic to hold all Greco-Roman antiquities within his personal collection.

Contents[]

  • Colosseum Mural: A mural depicting the Flavian Amphitheatre.
  • Pompeii Mural: A mural showing several citizens of Pompeii enjoying a party with Mt. Vesuvius in the horizon.
    • Thanks to the magic of the Balinese music box, it changes to show the infamous volcano erupting and engulfing the gleeful party-goers in molten lava.
  • Statue: A statue depicting a currently unidentified woman.
  • Amphora: An amphora depicting the legendary hero Heracles engaged in combat with the Nemean Lion as the first of his twelve labours.
  • Mosaic: A mural which shows a beautiful brunette maiden.
    • The magic of the music-box makes this woman transform into a horrifying gorgon.
  • Marble Busts: Two stern-looking marble busts.

Appearances[]

Mystic Manor[]

When Lord Mystic's pet monkey Albert opens up the balinese music-box, antiques of Mystic Manor come to life and terrorize Mystic and the guests. The illustrations of hero and monster fight, causing Lord Mystic's amphora to swerve, the murals change, the mosaic turns to the monstrous Medusa, and the marble-busts stare down guests as they pass by.

They presumably were de-animated when Albert closed the music-box.

Easter-Eggs[]

This section of the manner more than any other is filled with allusions to the Haunted Mansion of which Mystic Manor is based.

  • The Pompeii mural showing happy Romans killed suddenly in a feat of dark-comedy is very similar to the Changing Portraits seen in every incarnation of the ride.
  • The staring Marble Busts are both taken directly from the Haunted Mansion, namely from the Library in the Magic Kingdom.
  • The changing mosaic of the maiden turning to Medusa seems to be a direct homage to the changing portrait of Medusa from the original ride.

Trivia[]

  • Concept art showed that Medusa would have originally been shown as a marble-bust rather than a mosaic.
