-Mary's tombstone

Mary Murphy is a character alluded to in Phantom Manor.

Biography[]

Mary Murphy was born in 1837 and at-some point in her life became a resident of the mining town, Thunder Mesa. She would come to fall deeply in-love with a man named Frank Ballard despite Frank's mother apparently having nothing but loathing for their union.

The two were apparently set to be married but in 1859 she, Frank and Frank's mother all died. The three of them were all laid to rest in the Boot Hill adjacent to Ravenswood Manor.

In the October of 1885, the Mysterious Chronicle newspaper documented how Thunder Mesa citizen Cynthia Perry had an encounter with the ghost of Mary Murphy who was outside the grounds of Ravenswood Manor and in-search of her Mr. Ballard.

Trivia[]

  • Both Mary and Frank's photographs are photographs of employees who worked for the British firm of  Ackland-Snow which both built and installed several show elements for Phantom Manor.[1]
  • Ma Ballard's quote being "Over my Dead Body" as a response to Mary and Frank's love is a visual pun based on how their tombstones are positioned in such a way that they are raised higher than Ma's tomb.
  • Mary died at the age of 22 years-old.
