Connections[]
New Orleans Square[]
Coinciding with Mardi Gras in the Disney Parks is the overlay and events of "Princess Tiana's Mardi Gras Celebration" in Disneyland's New Orleans Square, a Mardi Gras celebration themed to the 2008 film The Princess and the Frog. These celebrations may include Mardi Gras themed decorations on the walls and gates of the Haunted Mansion. It should be noted that in the film, Mardi Gras is a notable event featured in the climax.
The Haunted Mansion (2003 film)[]
Mardi Gras is an important location in this film's stories, with Edward Gracey having hosted a Mardi Gras party in the ballroom of Gracey Manor. This celebration involved several waltzing guests and Edward's lover Elizabeth, a mixed-race black woman. At this party, Elizabeth was murdered by Edward's racist butler Ramsley with iocaine powder with him faking the death as a suicide. This would result in Edward himself committing suicide and causing the mansion to become haunted.
