"In memory of our patriarch
Dear departed Grandpa Marc"
―Marc's tombstone
In the family plot of the both the Haunted Mansions in Liberty Square and New Orleans Square, there is a tombstone for Grandpa Marc.
Description[]
Background[]
Grandpa Marc is an individual buried in the Haunted Mansion who was apparently a member of the family which owned the estate, in-which he served as their patriarch until his demise. Following his death, he was buried in their family-plot. When Jack Skellington visited the Mansion, Grandpa Marc was gifted a caged Vampire Bat.
History[]
The tombstone is a tribute to Imagineer Marc Davis, who originated most of the characters and paintings seen in the attraction. The 2024 edition of Haunted Mansion Holiday would see Grandpa Marc's name being placed on a gift tag attached to a caged Vampire Bat in the Corridor of Doors taken from an unused Davis design.
