'The Mad Scientist is a deleted character, existing only as a concept sketch by Ken Anderson, who was to appear as one of the residents of the Haunted Mansion in the original ride.
Description
The Mad Scientist was a greenish, broad-shouldered, bald figure in a labcoat, busy mixing variously-hued chemicals together for a sinister purpose; a large book akin to a grimoire tied him back to the supernatural, blurring the line between alchemy and chemistry (mad or not). Guests were to see him from above, with a gap in the floor surrounded by a square of frozen handrail.
Legacy
Although deleted from the final ride fairly quickly, the Mad Scientist tableau was lifted for Phantom Manor and retooled into Doctor Jekyll, who appears during the Phantom Canyon sequence.
