Lonesome Ghosts is a 1937 animated short film directed by Burt Gillett and made by Walt Disney Productions. It stars Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as ghost exterminators at McShiver Mansion, which is home to the Lonesome Ghosts.

Plot[]

The Lonesome Ghosts are bored in their house, with no one left to scare. They decide to call Ajax Ghost Exterminators, run by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, to come to their home to deal with a ghost problem. When they reach the house, they decide to split up and search on their own.

The ghosts play pranks on them and mess with them in different ways, like dropping plates around them and hitting them. They are eventually scared away when the trio falls into molasses and flour, making them appear like ghosts.

Haunted Mansion Connections[]

Unused Drafts[]

One of Ken Anderson's drafts for the Haunted Mansion involved the titular antagonists. They acted as guides to the guests, much like the Ghost Host. One of them swapped places with a living guide and took them through the Mansion, where a wedding between Mlle. Vampire and M. Boogeyman was taking place. When the reception turned to chaos, the ghost would help them escape the Mansion through a hidden passage.

Epic Mickey[]

Lonesome manor

The Lonesome Manor level of the game is inspired by the Haunted Mansion. The building is an amalgamation of different Mansions from all over the world, and includes references to characters like the Singing Busts and Constance Hatchaway. It is the home of the Lonesome Ghosts, who offer quests and tasks within it.

House of Mouse[]

The titular antagonists appeared in the episode "House Ghosts", alongside Haunted Mansion characters like the Hitchhiking Ghosts, the Executioner, the Skeletons from The Skeleton Dance (1929), the Hatbox Ghost, and the Bride during "Grim Grinning Ghosts" while they scare Pete and pull down his underwear by making him naked.

Other[]

Clips from the cartoon play during "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in the Disney Sing Along tape Happy Haunting: Party at Disneyland. A cutout of one of the ghosts is used as a decoration in the mansion.

In the "Houseghosts" episode of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, the Lonesome Ghosts take advantage of Mickey's kindness after losing their home for scaring the entire neighborhood and redecorate his house in a Haunted Mansion style. One of the ghosts turns their face into a Leering Head shape to frighten Mickey as well. 3 of them appear instead of four.
