Lilac the Skunk is an animal buried in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

Description[]

Lilac was a pet skunk during the 19th century who died in 1847. Following its death, Lilac was buried in the pet cemetery of the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans. It is unknown if those who buried her there were residents of the estate, lived in the area of the estate, or moved the skunk post-mortem.

Appearances[]

The Haunted Mansion[]

Lilac's tombstone can be found in the front pet cemetery of the Haunted Mansion, having been incorporated in during the mid-90s. The epitaph of Lilac reads as:

"Beloved Lilac

Long on curiosity

Short on common scents

1847"

As a gag, Lilac's tombstone was located far apart from the rest of the rest of the pet tombstones as a play on them being disgusted by the skunk's stench. Furthermore, Lilac's tombstone is surrounded by society garlic flowers, making the tombstone always have a stench about it.

Trivia[]

  • Lilac is one of two skunks buried in the Haunted Mansion. The other is Stripey the Skunk who is found in the original pet cemetery at the side of the mansion.
