Created in 1955 by Jim Henson for the Sam and Friends series aired on NBC affiliate WRC-TV in Washington DC, Kermit began his career as an abstract lizard like creature, only gaining his distinctive collar and flippers in 1968 when the character officially became a frog. Kermit is the idealistic leader of the Muppet acting troupe, though his patience and temper is often tested by the chaos he has chosen to surround himself with.

Muppets Haunted Mansion[]
Kermit the Frog appears as himself and in the role of a ghostly vaudevillian emcee for "The Mansion Show". The real Kermit does not visit the Mansion as he is hosting the annual Muppet Halloween party and doing a couples costume with Miss Piggy where they dressed as each other. While Gonzo sees the Halloween challenge at the Mansion as another opportunity to prove himself as "The Great Gonzo", Kermit advises him that he doesn't need to constantly prove himself to him or the rest of his friends, which Gonzo ends up reflecting on during his time in Room 999.

Kermit appeared within a Muppet-based Haunted Mansion pinset released in 2012 in a Doombuggy with Constance and Piggy.
