- " Let me OUT! Let me out!"
- ―The Idle Gentleman, begging guests to let him out of his frame.
The Idle Gentleman is a character exclusive to Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.
Description[]
Background[]
The idle gentleman is a rotund man resembling a caricature of horror actor Peter Lorre in what appears to be 19th-early 20th century garb with a black tuxedo and top-hat.
History[]
His portrait is based off of that of the Dynamite Gentleman in the Stretching Room, using the same composition. To achieve his pop-out effect, a mechanism is placed behind the portrait and pushes against a fabric. The head-mould used for his head pushing out resembles that of one of the pop-up ghosts.
Appearances[]
The portrait appears within the Corridor of Doors, near where the Ghost Host's portrait can be seen in the Disneyland version of the ride nearby the Family Portraits. As guests pass by, his face pushes from out of the wall with a ghastly expression, as if his spirit is struggling to get out of his painting.
Identifications[]
- Ghost Host: Based on the portrait's placing mirroring that of Disneyland's Ghost Host portrait, it is possible that the painting reflect Tokyo Disneyland's version of the Ghost Host as voiced by Teichiro Hori.
- Mister West: It is possible that the portrait is made to be of Tokyo Disneyland's Mansion's possible master-of-the-house, Mister West who is featured in the Family Plot.
- Chauncey Xavier: Another Family Plot member he might be is Chauncey Xavier whose tombstone is always made to look like it's a fresh-grave, again mirroring the mainstream Haunted Mansions' Master of the House.
