Synopsis[]
It’s Halloween at Disneyland, and Mickey Mouse and his friends are throwing a party at the Haunted Mansion. Three children - Zach, Sally, and Sam - go throughout the mansion to discover stories, costumes, and much more.
Haunted Mansion References[]
While none of the interior shots were filmed at the Haunted Mansion, the sets still contain references to the attraction.
- The exterior can be seen on the invitation, with Mickey and Minnie standing in front of it.
- The crystal ball room is a reference to the Séance Circle and Madame Leota
- The characters pass by a brass bust - possibly a reference to the staring busts in the Library.
- A Knight stands at the end of the hallway in one scene, much like the one near the Endless Hallway.
- One of the stories and songs in the film is The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The Headless Horseman was apart of one of Ken Anderson’s drafts for the Mansion.
- Sam sees a face in the mirror - possibly a reference to the Hitchhiking Ghosts.
- One of the ghost decorations is a Lonesome Ghost. One of the original drafts for the mansion featured the Lonesome Ghosts as integral characters.
- The Magic Mirror, for all intents and purposes, is the Ghost Host for this film. Coincidentally, he’s played by Corey Burton, who would go onto play the Ghost Host in Haunted Mansion Holiday.
“Grim Grinning Ghosts”[]
Grim Grinning Ghosts- Disney's Happy Haunting Party
“Grim Grinning Ghosts” is one of the songs featured in the film. The song is played alongside clips from cartoons, including Lonesome Ghosts, The Mad Doctor, Fantasia, The Black Cauldron, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Goddess of Spring, Trick or Treat, Alice in Wonderland, and The Great Mouse Detective. It contains new lyrics and a new arrangement of the tune.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out (x4)
When the crypt stones creak and the tombstones quake
Spooks come out for a swinging wake
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes
Start to shriek and harmonize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
Flying ghosts in the firelight
Rising spooks on every side
Restless bones materialize
Eerie eyes in the night
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
So don’t close your eyes and try to hide
Or a silly spook may sit by your side
Dressed up in a strange disguise
They pretend to terrorize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out (x4)
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out (x2)
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
