Halloween Town as it appears in the film

Halloween Town is a location from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) which is referenced throughout the seasonal Haunted Mansion Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare overlays for the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland and the mansion from Tokyo Disneyland. This is largely due to it being home to many of the characters featured within these overlays.

Description[]

The Nightmare Before Christmas[]

Halloween Town is one of seven known magic holiday-worlds alongside one for Christmas, St. Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, American Thanksgiving, Easter, and Independence Day. Each of these worlds can be accessed via door in a tree with Halloween Town being shown to be accessed from the mortal world via tombs. Each holiday world has the purpose of creating the iconography of the holidays which they represent then spreading it to the mortal world.

It is seemingly ruled over by an elected mayor but in-practice is more lead by its, "Pumpkin King" Jack Skellington who they actively idolize. The town is obsessed with halloween and spends every day of the year obsessed over production of the holiday.

Appearances[]

Haunted Mansion Holiday & Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare[]

In the backstory for the overlays, Jack and the residents of Halloween Town decided to travel to the Haunted Mansion in-order to aid the spirits of the house in celebrating the holiday-season in a fashion more in-tune with their macabre lifestyle. The toys and items seen also originate from Halloween Town, having been brought there.

Halloween Town is mentioned by the Ghost Host in his narration of the attraction. Several of the portraits seen in the attraction are also likely placed within Halloween Town, the portrait of Jack Skellington on the hill explicitly is as such with the skyline of the town being in the background.
