The Ghost Maid is an unused character created for the Haunted Mansion.
She is not to be confused with the live-performance characters of the Maids.
Description[]
The Ghost Maid was a cartoonish, "bed-sheet style" ghost who dressed in a traditional maid's uniform.
History[]
The Ghost Maid was created for a visual-gag by imagineer Marc Davis. She was to stand outside of a door which she would oil as it creaked open, playing on the trope of creaky doors in haunted houses.
The maid managed to eventually get her own life-sized figure however it was never implemented in any scenes of the final attraction.
Trivia[]
- While more in reference to the cast-member maids of the Haunted Mansion, many pieces of Haunted Mansion media feature ghostly maids. This includes the 2003 film, merchandise, and the Ghost Gallery in the form of Prudence.
- The Maid being a planned but unused character with a legacy surviving in the form of servants makes her roughly the maid equivalent of Beauregard the butler.
