Loki

The Ghost Dog is a minor ghost appearing in the Haunted Mansion.

Appearance[]

The Ghost Dog is pale blue like the other ghosts in the mansion's graveyard and is exceedingly skeletal in appearance. The dog appears by the mummy's sarcophagus, looking at the mummy.

Other Appearances[]

The Ghost Gallery[]

In the Ghost Gallery, the ghost dog is named "Loki" (after the Nordic trickster god) and is said to be the son of Master Gracey's pet dog Hellhound, a descendant of the prison dog from Pirates of the Caribbean, and the father of the Caretaker's dog "Bony". Loki died after getting trapped in the Mummy's sarcophagus and suffocating to death.

SLG Comics[]

The Ghost Dog appears on the cover of the third issue alongside the Mummy and the Deaf Ghost.

It is implied that the Ghost Dog is the deceased mate of the Caretaker's Dog, simply known as Mrs. Dog, in the story Night of the Caretaker's Dog, with the Caretaker's Dog stealing bones from various graves to feed his motherless puppies.

Trivia[]

  • The Ghost Dog's figure is identical to that of the Caretaker's Dog.
  • The Mansion's Pet Cemetery features several tombstones for pet dogs, namely Big Jake ("Here lies my good dog Jake chasing a toad down a well was his one mistake") and Buddy ("Our friend to the end"). It is possible that the Ghost Dog is the ghost of one of these dogs, most likely Big Jake considering that the stone carving shows them to be similar if not the same breeds.
