The La-Da Singer is one of the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion (New Orleans Square), The Haunted Mansion (Orlando) and The Haunted Mansion (Tokyo Disneyland). He is referred to as the La-Da singer, or the Background Hearse Singer. He can be heard humming the tune of "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in the Graveyard.

Description[]

Design[]

The La-Da Singer can be seen sitting in an empty coffin which is falling from the hearse. In the Story and Song from the Haunted Mansion, he is described as "Shrouded Corpse." He is wearing a top hat, a big bow, and holding a small plate with a cup of tea.

The ghost is sitting next to the ghosts who sing Grim Grinning Ghosts in a monotonous voice in the graveyard scene, which are known as the Monotone Ghosts.

Appearances[]

The Haunted Mansion (New Orleans Square)[]

He was one of the Happy Haunts to be at the opening of the DL mansion in 1969.

The Haunted Mansion (Liberty Square)[]

He was one of the Happy Haunts to be at the opening of the WDW mansion in 1971.

The Haunted Mansion (Video Game)[]

He makes an appearance after Ezekiel Holloway collects all of the Shriveled Souls in the Children’s Room, sipping a cup of tea. When interacted with, he speaks with a distinct Irish accent.

Removal[]

The La-Da Singer was heard for many years in the Disneyland and Walt Disney World version. A few years after his appearance in Disneyland, his vocal track was removed from the Graveyard scene in the attraction. Some speculate that it is due to errors in the animatronic that the audio has been lost, or that it is due to the family of Allan Davies having asked to remove the vocal track from the ride. (Same voice actor as the mummy)

In the mid 90s, his audio was lowered after a renovation of the Magic Kingdom mansion, until the 2007 refurbishment where his vocals, for unknown reasons, was abruptly removed from the attraction.

Even with those two versions of the character silenced, his voice can still be heard in Tokyo, as their vocals have been untouched.

AUDIOS[]

Even though the La-Da Singer can be heard at the Tokyo Disneyland Haunted Mansion, the source audio is nowhere to be found online, so it is almost impossible to find a clear version of the track. The clearest official source of it that can be heard is on the CD of the Tokyo Soundtrack.

With many fans trying to find the audio and information of the character, individual fragments of individual audios have been found, with the full low quality track & a short HQ audio clip being found & recovered by "Haunted Mansion Archive" on YouTube.
