Boleyn

King Henry Tudor VIII of England was a historic villain who was planned to appear in the Haunted Mansion in portrait form.

Proposed Appearances[]

Henry VIII appeared in Marc Davis concept art for a proposed changing portrait where he would have been portrayed in a painting mirroring his famous portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger, only here it showed him standing alongside his second wife Anne Boleyn only for it to change and show Anne to be decapitated beside the king, mirroring her real world fate.

Character History[]

"King Henry VIII, to six wives he was wedded. One died, one survived, two divorced, and two beheaded"
―Popular English mnemonic rhyme

King Henry VIII was king of England from 1509-1528 and to this day is believed to be the British monarch with the highest number of executions. He is also known for having been so dedicated to conceive a male heir, that after two of his wives (Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard) gave birth to daughters rather then sons, he had them beheaded for false claims of adultery, incest, treason and witchcraft.

Trivia[]

  • Henry VIII is similar to Satan in that they are both famous pre-existing malevolent figures who appeared in concept art for Changing Portraits.
