Fantasyland is described as "The Happiest Kingdom Of Them All". This land is one of  four featured in all Disney Resorts, along with Tomorrowland, Adventureland, and Frontierland (known as Westernland in Tokyo).

Fantasyland is home to Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.

Description[]

Disneyland[]

Fantasyland of Disneyland

Disneyland's Fantasyland was originally themed around being a sort of medieval-fair but 1983 the land went through a major refurbishment to be themed around a Bavarian village.

Walt Disney Wold[]

In 2014, the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland received its own major refurbishment that turned it into, "New Fantasyland". The land was split into three general areas: the Enchanted Forest which was themed around immersion into classic fairy-tales, the Castle Courtyard which was much more of a medieval-fair setting with miscellaneous features, and the Storybook Circus which was themed around a fantastical 19th/early-20th century circus.

Tokyo Disneyland[]

Tokyo Disneyland's mansion is home to that park's Haunted Mansion, being tied together by the manor's walls being marked by bronze statues of griffins. This mansion is identical to Florida's mansion design due to the dutch-gothic influence making the manor look distinctly European and also aid in blending together Fantasyland and Westernland.

This was largely done as plans to place it in Westernland were changed when it was decided to save its intended slot for Big Thunder Mountain as well as ghost stories being a cornerstone of Japanese fairy tales and folk stories making it a natural fit for Fantasyland.

Trivia[]

  • Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion contains a hidden tribute to an extinct Fantasyland ride. In the Pet Cemetery, a tombstone can be found dedicated to one Mr. Toad. This is a reference to the attraction Mr. Toad's Wild Ride which was taken down in 1998 to much controversy and replaced with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
    • While not featured on the actual tombstone, cast-members and Disney sources will claim that Toad's tombstones epitaph reads, "Here Lies Toad, it's sad but true. Not nearly as marketable as Winnie the Pooh".
  • Disney Kingdoms' Haunted Mansion comics reference Matterhorn Bobsleds by having protagonist Danny Crowe's grandfather die in an avalanche on the Matterhorn.
