As shown in concept art by Marc Davis, Daphne would have appeared in a changing portrait where she would have been depicted as a beautiful greek young woman who slowly transforms into a tree.
Background[]
Daphne is a character from Ancient Greek Mythology. In her respective tale she was a beautiful Naiad (Fresh-Water Nature Spirit) who was relentlessly being pursued by the god Apollo who wanted her to be his bride. To protect herself she called upon her father the river god Peneus, who transformed her into a tree so she wouldn't be forced to marry Apollo.
