The Carnivorous Plant is an entity which is featured in the attraction of Mystic Manor.
Description[]
The Carnivorous Plant, per the exhibit descriptions in the queue, is an oversized Venus fly trap. It has several tendril-like vines, two budding, "heads" and one giant head, all of which seem to be capable of free-movement. The heads of the plant all have, hair-like "teeth" like those of a Venus Fly-Trap.
Appearances[]
Jungle Cruise[]
The Carnivorous Plant is indirectly referenced in the queue for Walt Disney World's Jungle Cruise. An open journal appears in the queue belonging to Dr. Leonard Moss who is studying a species of similar carnivorous plant. The journal has the note, "Similar species discovered by Lord Henry? NOTE- contact Mystic Archive upon my arrival home".
Mystic Manor[]
The plant was originally a much smaller, but still larger then average Venus fly trap specimen with a single head kept within the Solarium of Mystic Manor in Mystic Point, Papua New Guinea. After Lord Mystic's pet monkey Albert opened the enchanted Balinese Music Box, the plant grew into the monster which we see it as in the attraction, having burst through its pot and branching out, growing more mouths.
When guests encounter the plant in the Solarium, it is attempting to devour Albert by distracting him with its smaller heads while its largest head prepares to lunge from behind. Before this, the scene is interrupted by guests which cause the plant to turn its large head and roar at them. As we see Albert later, it is clear the plant was not successful in its hunt.
Trivia[]
- The plant resembles the monstrous "Audrey 2" from the 1986 horror-comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors.
- A man-eating plant was planned for the unbuilt Museum of the Weird attraction with it never coming to fruition.
- Based off of the hair-like teeth lining the plant's mouths, it can be insinuated that the plant eats by locking animals in its jaws before filling its mouth with digestive acids.
